Life with Sydney Lola began on April 11, 2007 at 9:00am after 9 hours of labor.  Sydney weighed in at 4 pounds 10 ounces and 17 and 1/2 inches.

Week 2

Sydney is amazing.  She is sucking her fingers every chance she gets and periodically finds her thumb.  She makes lots of cooing noises and enjoys just laying around and listening to everyone talk around her.  Sometimes she won't go to sleep but want to just stay up and listen to everyone's voices.

4-27-07

Sydney had her weigh in at the doctor's office today, and weighs 5 lbs 2 oz.

Week 4

Sydney is awake more and more and is intrigued by the house.  She follows our voices, especially Eric and Jack's.  She's enjoying her new toys and music.  This week we'll be spending time outside, as the weather is getting warmer, and Sydney will be introduced to her crib, just for napping for now.  She's looking forward to visits from her Aunts and Uncles.  She makes lots of stretching noises and like her brother, has the hiccups.

5-11-07 (1 Month)

Sydney had her 1 month drs. appt. and weighed in at 6 lbs 6 oz.  We are all very excited about her weight gain! She's also starting to sleep more at night, keep your fingers crossed, but last night she slept from 12:40am - 5am, the longest stretch yet! She's awake more and more during the day and seems to be fascinated by contrast, black/white etc...especially light coming in through the window (just like her brother, if you check his journal).  Sydney is also looking more and more like Jack when he was a baby.  Jack kisses her good night and rubs her belly before he goes to sleep.

5-29-07 (7 weeks)

Sydney had her weigh in drs. appt today and weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz! Very exciting.  She also is starting to smile, though she's stingy w/her smiles! Sydney has started a little tummy time, which she doesn't seem to mind.  She also spend her first 2 nights in the crib! Though I miss her terribly, I know it's better for her, and she seems to enjoy the additional space.  She has been going to bed around 9:30 and sleeping till about 1:30/2:30.  Hopefully as she puts on some add'l pounds that stretch will get longer.  Eric and I do like the 9:30 bedtime, it's funny that the kids go to bed about the same time now!  Sydney loves to be outside, since the weather has been so nice and warm, we've been going for walks or sitting outside.  Sydney met her Aunt Marina, Uncle Matt, Cousins Kent & Zaida this past weekend.  Coming up, Sydney is looking forward to meeting her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime.

6-11-07 (2 Months)

Sydney has her 2 mos drs. appt and weighed in at an impressive 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 inches long.  She's well on her way and catching up in size.  She's starting to sleep pretty well also, she still has her 9pm bedtime and is sleeping consistently till 3am/4am.  So we're thrilled at the thought that she may sleep through the night soon! Jack, her big brother, didn't sleep through until he was 15 mos! Yikes, right.  She's also doing amazing feats, she is swatting at toys and has already rolled over from belly to back! She's also making her way around the crib and cannot stay in one spot for very long.  She's also doing pretty well with tummy time w/only slight protests.  Sydney has also had the pleasure of meeting her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime for the first time! Jack also enjoyed quality time w/Jaime and Ryan as we have not seen them for an entire year! We hope that never happens again!  Sydney is also smiling at us and cooing! She loves to look and listen to Jack.  She smiles at him every morning when she sees him.  Jack kisses her and pets her head every chance he gets, so the admiration is mutual.  We're excited to see what Sydney's next tricks will be....And Sydney is fascinated by Casey, our dog.

6-25-07

Sydney continues to amaze us, just like her big brother.  She continuously rolls over from belly to back during tummy time, every time we put her on her belly, we'll need to think of something to keep her on her belly! She has also rolled over from back to belly during the night.  She continues to be in all sorts of positions and locations within the crib by morning.  She also continues to sleep from 9pm to about 2:30/3am and then she's up every 3 hours.  She does go back to sleep easily at night.  She weighed in at 9 lbs this morning, and thankfully is gaining about an 1 oz a day! She's starting to outgrow some outfits and grow into some of the adorable clothes that our friends and family have gotten her.  Sydney is smiling all the time now (ear to ear) and starting to giggle! Most of her smiles and attention go to Jack, she loves to look and him and listens intently while he's talking.  During breakfast, she watches and smiles at him and if he doesn't notice her, she starts make sounds, her favorite being "I" "I" "I" then followed by an "O".  We put her in the baby bjorn over the weekend, she seemed to enjoy a different viewpoint.  She's really starting to be fun and have fun, she seems to enjoy trying to get our attention.

7-9-07

Sydney is just so much fun and such a happy baby! She's weighed in at 9lbs 11oz and at 3 mos old has doubled her birth weight, which is a fantastic milestone!  She's started to sleep better and better, I don't want to jinx myself, but we've had a few nights of 9pm - 5am/6am...very nice! She's talking and babbling all the time! Jack makes her smile and almost giggle.  When Jack cries, she cries.  It's really quite sweet.  She loves being outside and riding in the car.  She likes to nap in her pack n play and hang out in the swing, but really just want to be where the action is, or where Jack is.  She likes to look at herself in the mirror, and make her noises and coos.  She also is doing very well w/tummy time and is starting to hold her head up quite well.  We also see some white in her lower gums, so it looks like it may be an early tooth for Miss Sydney.  She's also rolling on her belly and to her back, she's mostly sleeping on her belly at night, no matter how many times I roll her onto her back...She's enjoying her baths and is really quite content.   She wakes up smiling and that's all anyone could ask for! Her next Dr. appt is at 4 mos..and then it's our annual beach vacation w/the Bowshers in August.

8-14-07   (4 months)

Well, Sydney is developing quite a personality.  She had her 4 mos appt and weighed in at 11 lbs and 22 and 1/2 inches tall.  She's doing great, and loves her bottle.  She's sleeping through the night (I know, we know we're lucky and we hope it keeps up) she sleeps from about 7:30pm - 7am.  She's still talking and making faces at us.  She'll stick her tongue out if we do it first.  She's starting to change the shape of her mouth and make different sounds.  She rolls from back to belly constantly and still sleeping on her belly at night.  She still loves her baths and is starting to kick her feet in the water.  She's grabbing toys and putting them in her mouth and still sucking on her fingers.  Her first tooth has not come in yet, but we are expecting it any day.  She usually hangs out in the swing when we eat dinner and talks to us nonstop...and yep, no matter what time we eat, that's when she wants to eat as well, and always at the table w/us.  She loves talking to Jack and looking at Jack and making faces at him.  She also loves it when he pays attention to her and tries to make her laugh.  She had her first belly laugh this morning! I was tickling her on the changing pad and she starting laughing.  She loves car rides as long as they don't interfere with a feeding and she loves to be outside and go for walks.  We are looking forward to our beach vacation w/the Bowshers in 2 weeks!  She's just a joy and we are so lucky to have to wonderful kids.  I also came across a picture of Eric when he was 3 mos old, and I thought Sydney was all me, but, once again, the Goldman genes dominate for now, here's a picture of Eric at 3 mos and Sydney at 3 mos.

9-13-07

Well, at 5 months, Sydney is rolling from belly to back now...she can now roll from one end of the floor to the other.  So, she's now officially a big roller.  She's also giggling and laughing, especially when Jack makes funny faces.  She was a doll at the beach.  She took her naps on the beach in the morning and adjusted quite well at the beach house.  She still slept through the night in the pack n play and was a happy beach baby! She enjoyed the boardwalk.  Sydney has also now tried Rice cereal and Oatmeal cereal.  We'll be trying first fruits and veggies next month.  Sydney is constantly talking to us and imitating our sounds as well.  She's grabbing toys and bringing them to her mouth and has been touching and feeling different textures, like her taggies blanket.  She's also getting into a nice napping routine where she naps either 2 or 3 times a day and sleeps at night.  Her naps maybe short, but something.  She's also balancing on her belly and sticking her arms out...so she may be able to sit up on her own soon.  And otherwise, Sydney is looking more and more like her Daddy! Here's a picture of Sydney and Daddy, and Eric at 6 mos.

9-27-07

Sydney finally found her feet! and her thighs! And grabs both during diaper changes.  Her tooth is making its way....She's a pro w/Oatmeal cereal, and will be trying fruits/veggies next week.  Sydney is starting to get up on her knees and scoot around, she's going about 2 inches forward for every 10 inches backwards! It's progress.  Sometimes she wakes up at 5am to practice crawling, we think its just on her mind until she knows how to do it.  Her blue octopus is still her favorite but she hasn't picked a nighttime guy yet.  Now she's looking forward to her brother's 4th birthday party! Where does the time go?

10-10-07

Well, it's the eve of Sydney's 6 mos birthday! We can't believe it.  She's getting better and better at scooting and rocking..and loves to jump up in the excersaucer, her new favorite toy! She started solids..pears and bananas being her favorite, just like her brother.  She's also tried sweet peas.  She had a great time at Jack's birthday party, and enjoyed being outside at the farm.  She's talking up a storm and expresses herself quite well.  She has started to take naps! Finally! She has 2-3 naps a day, usually 2.  She seems to like her elephant stuffed animal more than the others, we'll see if that'll be her "nighttime guy."  She loves to look at Jack and always laughs when he makes silly faces at her.  She also laughs at our kitchen phone, she's intrigued by it.  She's starting to sit up when propped and loves to bang anything and everything that is in her hand.  She's a pro with her paci, she can find it in her crib and put it in her mouth.  She also loves looking in the mirror.  She loves music and things that crinkle and make sounds.  She's had her first cold, stuffy nose and is doing well with it, glad that's under her belt.  She's sleeping well, from 7pm to about 7am!  She's definitely looking more and more like her Daddy when he was 6 mos old! She's getting ready to start school soon, just a few more weeks at home.  Still no teeth, still drooling though! Still can't believe she'll be 6 mos tomorrow, where did the time go????

10-22-07

Sydney has her 6 mos well visit, and 5 shots later (ugh!) she did great! Weighed in at 13 lbs 4 oz and 24.5 inches tall.  Pretty impressive! She's grown 7 inches in the past 6 mos! Go Sydney! She's trying more and more 1st foods and really enjoys eating from a spoon.  She loves to jump everywhere and anywhere and is starting to move forward more and more w/her scooting.  She's also getting ready to start daycare, this is her last week at home.  She loves to look and laugh at her brother, especially when he does silly things and makes funny faces!

1-17-08

Okay, I can’t believe its been so long since I’ve written in this journal…I guess now I see just how busy we have been. So much has happened in the past 3 mos.  Sydney had her 9 mos well visit, and weighed in at 15 pounds and 26 inches.  She’s doing great and though she is petite, she is hanging w/the big kids.  She’s pulling herself up and standing, and is now reaching for toys with one hand while holding on w/the other.  She started shimming “walking” while holding on to things.  She’s eating lots of new foods, mostly carbs! She loves waffles, bread, bagels, yogurt.  She’s also had chicken and turkey.  She loves avocados and other fruits and veggies.  She’s also a great traveler, we took our family trip to Ft. Lauderdale to visit Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime! The kids had a ball and did great at the airports and on the planes~Sydney had her first Christmas and loved to play with all the wrapping paper and tissue paper! That was lots of fun.  Sydney also had her first beach experience in Ft. Lauderdale! She loved the beach and the sand, and actually didn’t eat it.  Surprisingly she enjoyed just sitting and letting it run through her fingers.  Coming up next is trying to get Sydney to drink out of a cup, or at least not to throw it.  She also got her 2 bottom teeth on Nov. 28 and Dec. 1st… next I think the top ones are coming!  Like we said before, any day now! She’s been a trooper w/stuffy noses and coughing! It doesn’t slow her down any.  She’s crawling everywhere! And making herself known wherever she goes! She cries when we take toys away… She yells at us when she doesn’t like something…and mimics our gestures and sounds! Very cute! We are enjoying both our kids! We are so lucky.

4-07-08

Once again so much has changed! Sydney has become such a little girl in the past few months.  She weighs about 17 and ½ pounds and stands on her own and has taken a few steps.  She’s very proud of herself.  Her first few words are “Hi Daddy” “Jack” “Casey” “Ball” “Dog” “Meow” “Bubble” “Hat” “Mooore” “Mine”  its just unbelievable.  She is starting to say “Mommy” just not to me!  She plays very nicely with her friends and on her own.  Her top 4 teeth are coming in, the whites are through and we think more are coming.  She’s very vocal on what she wants and when she wants it.  When she doesn’t want something she shakes her head and says “no”.  She’s taken a liking to Ham, it’s her very favorite food, whenever we give it to her, she looks and says “YUM!” She also likes grilled cheese and wraps. We can't believe that she'll be turning one this coming Friday and are looking forward to her party.  We're also excited for her first pair of shoes and her 2nd trip to the beach this coming June for our 5th annual beach week with the Bowshers, we may have a first this year with all 4 kids walking! Sydney also adores her big brother, she loves to play with him and give him hugs.  She also likes to pull his hair, which she doesn't have much of yet.  We honestly just can't believe how this 4 and 1/2 pound little baby girl has grown and has such an amazing personality and sweetness about her.

4-22-08

We just celebrated Sydney's first birthday party! What fun! And Sydney just had her 1 year well visit, she weighed in at 17 and 1/2 pounds and 28 inches tall! We just couldn't believe that she grew 11 inches this past year! Wow! She's just amazing! She's starting to walk, taking about 20 steps at a time... She points out every ball and says "BAAAALLLL" so cute.  She also got her first and second pair of shoes...too fun for Julie.  Our next step is going from formula to whole milk, and saying good bye to the bottle.  Yes, that should all be fun, not looking forward to taking away her "baba."  Otherwise, Sydney is just a happy girl.  She loves her big brother, and has recently started saying "broter."
