Life with Jack David began on October 2, 2003 at 6:33pm after 15 hours of labor. Jack weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches. Jack David is named after his Great Grandfathers, David E. Goldman and David Kleymenes.
Week 3
Jack is truly a gifted baby. This week he is grabbing things, sucking his fingers, looking around, especially at light coming in through the blinds and holding his pacifier in place. He got tired of the pacifier falling out of his mouth. Jack's little quirk is the hiccups, he has them every day! This past weekend Jack met his Aunt Marina, Uncle Matt and Cousin Kent. He slept through most of it, but looks forward to seeing them next time. Casey & Koko are starting to take a liking to Jack. Casey is very concerned when Jack cries and Koko, who likes her sleep, tends to leave the room.
Week 4
This week Jack will be 1 month old. Time really flies. Jack made his first trip, not counting the pediatrician and the trip home from the hospital. We ventured out to Babies R Us and a visit to Jack's grandparents. Once again, Jack slept through most of it, but enjoyed the ride. Another first for Jack, he spent his first night in the crib. He is now officially in the crib full-time and seems to enjoy the additional space. When he stretched in the bassinet, he bumped his hands along the sides and woke himself up. Jack is also smiling more and holding his head up longer. Jack has also started to wear some 3 - 6 mos size sleepers, he's growing like a weed!

Week 5
An exciting week for us, Jack is smiling more and more everyday. We would like to believe that he is smiling at us. He is also starting to enjoy bath time, next we'll add some duckies to the tub and see how that goes. This past weekend he had his 1st trip to the mall, which he slept through.
Week 6
Well, Jack is growing to say the least. He weighs in at 12 lb 8 oz!! This week we tried the gymini mat, he seemed to enjoy it for a few minutes. He's not really interested in toys yet, but really enjoys his ocean wonders aquarium that hooks on his crib. This past weekend was our first night out without Jack. Jack's grandparents babysat and introduced Jack to our 120 gallon aquarium, he seemed to enjoy that as much as his fake fish. Jack is looking forward to his first Thanksgiving, his first trip outside the state of PA, his first night away from home and meeting his Uncle Ryan. Next week will be a lot of "firsts" for Jack.

Week 7
Another exciting week of life with Jack. He weighed in at 13 lb 3 oz!! Can't believe how quick he's growing. Definitely in 3 - 6 mos clothing now. This week Jack has favored his mobile, sound and movement of the animals. He get upset when it stops and waves his hands at it in anger. His eyes have started to follow us as we move. Jack loves to look around while being carried, each room in the house is a new adventure for him. He especially likes the refrigerator, he loves to look at it and then smile. Casey and Koko have also warmed up to Jack. Instead of chewing up paper towels and leaving them in the family room, now Casey has started leaving them in Jack's room. It's her way of initiating Jack into the family and being mad when he leaves the house now also. Next, Thanksgiving, Jack's big trip to DE.
Week 8
What a fun week! Jack met his Uncle Ryan, who enjoyed watching some football with his nephew! Jack loved his crib away from crib and slept from 11pm to 5:45a.m! A record for Jack! Jack also enjoyed meeting his other DE relatives and spending time with his Great-Grandmothers!

Week 9
Jack just had his 2 month visit at the Doctor's. He weighed 13 lbs 10 oz and is 23 inches in length. We are thrilled with Jack's growth!! This week Jack is not only smiling but giggling and cooing at us and his stuffed animals. He loves his mobile and the gymini (as you can see in the pictures). Our next mission is to try to get Jack to bed earlier than 11pm.
Week 10
Jack weighed in this week at 14 lbs 2 oz. We can't believe that Jack is 10 weeks old. He smiles and giggles most of the time at us, the ceiling, closet, and the mirror. He loves looking in the mirror. Jack is improving on his sleep patterns and actually slept from 10:30pm to 7:30a.m., but as we thought, it was a fluke. We hope it happens again some day soon. Jack is looking forward to seeing his Aunt Marina, Uncle Matt and Cousin Kent this weekend. They are driving up from Washington D.C. for a family affair and will be visiting us. The boys, Jack and Kent, are looking forward to their first Hanukkah and Christmas!
Week 11
This week Jack weighed in at 14 lbs 10 oz. Jack went to pick out his first Christmas Tree this week, we didn't enjoy the snow suit we put on him. Jack likes the tree, especially all the lights we put on it.
Week 12
Jack weighed in at 15 lbs 2 oz. He's quite the little quarterback. This week he's been watching mom wrap gifts, clean and get ready for the grandparents to come over on Christmas Eve. For the past few weeks Jack has been talking up a storm! He says "Kah lua" and "hot" he says a few other words also, but they all sound the same, "gah ah ooo." Jack is starting to wear 6-9 mos sleepers.
Week 14
Well, Jack is growing and growing and weighed in at 16 lbs 4 oz. He enjoys watching cartoons and his Baby Bach, loves the colors. He also enjoys watching the Eagles play. Following the Eagles-Packers game Jack started "talking" and hasn't stopped. His favorite sounds are "aay...aya." Jack favors his 10pm bedtime, but we are making a conscious effort to put him to be earlier, hopefully about 9pm. Jack also loves his bath time, and this week was his first serious and continuous laugh, check out the homepage for see the video.
Week 15 (1/19/04)
Jack weighed in at 16 lbs 9oz. He is officially wearing 6 - 9 clothes and sleepers and hasn't stopped talking. We love it. Jack gets very excited to see Eric when he comes home from work. He is starting to react when I say his name, I know it's way too early for him to know his own name, but I'll take whatever I can get. He is also very close to finding his feet, he's been grabbing his thighs, the feet are next. Jack is also arching his back when he is laying down, looks like he may roll over soon. And he is holding his head up like a champ...and bedtime is officially 9pm, and Jack is doing very well with it, on average he sleeps from 9pm - 5a.m./6a.m.
Week 16
Jack weighed in at 16lb 13 oz. He is such a fun guy! Jack is reaching for toys and putting them in his mouth, and pretty much anything else he can get his hands on, goes in his mouth. He is teething and handling it pretty well, a little cranky. He enjoys pulling his feet up in the air and letting them drop down so he bounces on the mattress, then he laughs. Now he does that everywhere, including the changing table, and while being changed and dressed. He likes hanging out in his crib by himself for a little while.
4 Months (2/2/04)
This week Jack turned 4 months! How exciting! He weighed in at 17 lbs and 25 1/2 inches long. He had his 4 month Drs appt today, he got 4 shots and cried for 15 seconds, left with a smile. What a kid, our tough guy. Something exciting happened today, he found his thumb, and hasn't stopped sucking it. I'm wondering if he'll remember where it is tomorrow. Jack is still going to bed at 9pm, but now that we are mostly on formula, he has started waking up at 4a.m., he goes back to sleep easily though. We are ready to increase his formula to 6 oz every 4 hours and will see if he will be ready for some rice cereal in a few weeks. Another exciting thing happened on 2/3/04, Jack rolled over during tummy time, he rolled front to back. I'm not sure if he knew what he did, but he was rather excited. Hopefully he'll do it again soon. Jack loves looking at himself in the mirror, it's his new favorite past time. And yet another milestone for Jack, on 2/7/04 his first tooth started coming in. It's a small white dagger poking through. This happened while visiting his Aunt Marina, Uncle Matt and Cousin Kent in D.C. this past weekend. He was a trooper and still laughed and giggled for them. And by the end of the weekend, Jack and Kent bonded.
4.5 Months (2/17/04)
This week Jack weighed in at 17 pounds and 13 ounces!!! He's a big boy! This week Jack's 2nd tooth is making it's way to the surface. So, let's just say this week has been a wet one, full of drool! Jack had a great Valentine's Day with his grandparents, and got some gifts. He's really enjoying tummy time and watching himself in the mirror. Jack had another milestone, he tried rice cereal, from a spoon. He didn't really enjoy it the first, second or third time. He's getting the hang of the spoon, but doesn't like rice cereal. We're going to try oatmeal cereal next. Jack also has a new friend who he sleeps with every night, he calls him Teddy.
5 Months (3/2/04)
Jack weighed in at 18 pounds this week! His 2 front teeth are sitting pretty, not all the way up, but getting there. Jack is back on the horse with rice cereal. He likes it, and is actually opening his mouth for the spoon. Jack hasn't grown tired of looking at himself in the mirror. And now loves to watch our dogs, Koko and Casey. He laughs when they bark. Jack loves loud noises and loves to be surprised. So far only his Daddy can make him laugh hysterically to the point of hiccups. Jack also rolled over for the 2nd time, only a whole month later after his first roll. Jack has also outgrown his infant car seat and is officially in his "big boy" one. Jack has also enjoyed spending time with all his grandparents. We think he is starting to recognize them!!

5.5 Months (3/11/04) and Updated on 3/16/04
Jack has been a busy boy! He has officially started solids, with Peaches being his first fruit! Can't say he enjoyed it, but was curious enough to keep eating them. We have also tried Bananas now...and on our way to other fruits. Jack has also learned how to remove the socks we place on his hands to stop him from scratching. The other morning, when we walked in to get him, Jack took his socks off his hands with his mouth and showed us his hands. It was funny. He has an adorable personality, he's very sweet and playful. He enjoys company and attention and of course someone to play with. Jack is also sitting on his own for a few seconds, he's not really balancing with his arms yet, but loves being propped up. Jack has now started reaching for our dogs like he reaches for toys, but when they get close, he braces himself for a big wet kiss. Jack is also rolling over!!! A feat he hasn't attempted in a few weeks and all of a sudden he starts up again. He rolled over about 15 times yesterday! It was quite a site. He looked very proud of himself. Jack has also mastered fruit over the past few days! Peaches appear to be his least favorite, he likes bananas, pears and apples. Today fruit, tomorrow steak & potatoes. Jack's other new thing is being upright in his stroller. No more carrier, new car seats and upright in the stroller and umbrella stroller. He seems to enjoy it and just kicks his feet around! Jack is also very close to sitting up, I'm scared that one morning he's going to be sitting up in his crib. Already we are finding him in very strange and silly positions and locations in the crib, this morning he was all the way to the right side and was 180 degrees turned.

Almost 6 Months...(3/26/04)
So much has happened in the past 2 weeks. Jack is pretty much sitting up. We can place him seated on just about any surface and he automatically sticks his arms out to balance. He stays up for quite a while and tries to get his feet in his mouth. We have packed up the bumper in the crib, Jack is now traveling around the crib, this morning he was headed West facing North and eating the bumper. To fully comprehend this feat, he goes to sleep facing South and head to the East. Hence, we took it away. His crib looks very bare. Eric said he's probably wondering when we put the bars on. He's also pronouncing lots of consonants, his favorite being "bah" hopefully meaning bottle...and "gah" no idea what he's trying to say there. Other than that, he just creates his own sentences with single syllable consonants and vowels. He's also giving hugs. So precious. That's my favorite thing he does. And then there's a fun trick, the "wiggle wiggle wiggle." If Eric or I wiggle and say "wiggle wiggle wiggle," Jack will wiggle his shoulders and hips...really funny to watch.
6 Months (4/2/04)
As amazing as it sounds, Jack is officially 6 months old today. He had his 6 month Drs. Appt. and weighed in at an impressive 19 pounds 6 ounces, 26 ½ inches tall. Jack got 3 shots, and was a very brave boy, didn't even cry. Jack is imitating us more and more everyday. His most recent trick is when we say "big boy" he raises our hands when he holds them, he still won't raise his hands by himself, but it's a start. He's doing early "crawl" movements, butt up in the air and reaching with his hands. He only reaches for remote controls and phones. Those are his favorite toys, and gets upset when they are taken away. Jack also wants everything and anything we hold and/or drink or eat. Time to start babyproofing, holy crap. Jack also likes Elmo very much, he gets excited and makes noise when he sees Elmo on TV. Jack has also found his feet, he now holds his feet when being changed, when sitting up and just about any other time he sees them.
6 ½ Months (4/13/04)
Jack is just moving right along. He's enjoying sitting up and toppling over. He's rolling in both directions now and is very proud of himself when he does it. He's also enjoying his toys more. Jack is becoming mobile, he's scooting around but not really crawling, but he's somehow reaching the toys that he wants. Jack is also eating a variety of veggies now. He's had sweet peas, squash, potatoes and sweet potatoes. The only ones he has yet to try in stage 1 is carrots and green beans. He enjoys his oatmeal cereal and loves fruits, especially bananas and pears. Jack has such a great personality. He laughs when we laugh. And just loves playing peek a boo, by far still a favorite. He's napping is very predictable and so is his bedtime, Jack goes to bed nicely by 8pm.

Just about 7 months old (4/28/04)
Well, Jack is sitting up. Today he sat up for about 45 minutes. It was unbelievable. He's developing quite a personality, he's silly and such a happy boy. He giggle and laughs when he plays with Eric. It's impossible to keep him on his back now, because he just rolls right on his belly all the time. Including bedtime. He's had all first fruits and veggies and is now trying mixed varieties. He's also moved onto mixed cereal, so far Oatmeal & Bananas being his favorite. Jack's top teeth are very close to coming in, he's been the drool king for the past few weeks. Any day now. Jack also had his first taste of school today. I went to daycare with him to get him familiar, since he will starting on Monday. He did better than I did. He loved seeing all the other babies and was amazed as some crawled by. I think he'll be crawling in 2 weeks.
8 Months Old (6/2/04)
Jack weighed in at 20 lbs. Well, we are once again blown away by what Jack can do. He's pretty much crawling. He started crawling backwards and rolling to get to where he wanted to go. Now he takes small leaps forward like a frog. He's also trying to stand up...It's pretty amazing. His top two teeth are still not in, and frankly we just don't think they are coming now. We've been waiting for about 4 months. Jack's doing great in daycare, he's made friends with the older kids, which I guess explains his recent fascination with crawling, standing and walking. Jack's other new talent is his pacifier, he likes to put in his mouth himself, and of course turn it if it is not in the right way. He's also getting good at holding the bottle. He absolutely loves bath time, and of course all the duckies...them he likes to eat. Jack's favorite expression is "Uh-oh" which he says and also repeats. Jack also likes to travel with his toys, when Eric or I carry him around, he grabs his favorite toys for the ride. Jack and the dogs are at a stalemate, their tongues versus Jack's quick sticky hands. He reaches and grabs the dogs and pulls chunks of fur every time, the dogs however just lick him everywhere in their defense.
6/8/04
Well, we are making progress with the whole crawling thing. Jack is crawling like a wounded soldier, small leaps and then he drags himself forward. He's getting there. He's also officially holding his bottle. Jack has also shown interest in straps, straps of any kind. High chair straps, car seat straps, feeding seat straps, wagon straps, changing pad straps...if there's a strap in sight, it's in his mouth. He's also giving me and Eric hugs. Now that's a great feeling. He's very weary of strangers and people who he doesn't see often. We are now looking forward to our vacation at the Beach with the Bowshers. Can't wait to see how the boys will play together.
6/17/04
Jack is crawling!! He moves so fast now, he can make it to the other side of his room in 5 seconds. We moved his crib mattress down to the final position and have started to baby proof the house. Jack has also had a variety of new foods, including real mashed potatoes and bananas. He really dug the bananas, the potatoes not so much. Yogurt is next on the list of foods to try. Jack is officially holding his own bottle. He enjoys calling the shots on how much bottle he gets. He's still unsure about the sippy cup, but likes holding spoons. We are getting ready to leave for the beach...so the next entry will have to do with which kid is eating sand.
9 Months Old, 7/2/04
Yep, time to baby proof the house. Jack is all over the place. Jack loved being at the beach. The water was too cold for him, but he loved being outside and sitting in the cabana. Jack tried all sorts of new foods at the beach, he had real bananas (real as opposed to jarred), yogurt, cottage cheese, and white northern beans. He loved hanging out with his older cousin, Kent. Since we've been home, Jack is starting to wave, although it's with his whole arm, it's a wave nonetheless. Jack also said "no" the other day while we were trying to feed him breakfast. He flat out looked at Eric and said "no." It was a riot. He sings and babbles, he's just the best. He loves being in his exersaucer, it's helping him balance while he stands. He's starting to pull himself up on everything. It's impossible to change his diaper, he flips over the second he's on the changing pad. He's just on the go. At school, his teacher told us that now that he can crawl, and the other babies can't, Jack takes a toy and travels and the other kids get upset. His new thing is traveling with toys in his mouth or in one hand. So much so fast, we can't believe how quickly this is all happening.
7/12/04
Jack has his 9 month doctor's appt. today, he weighed in at 20 lbs and 27 ½ inches tall. Jack got 1 shot and didn't even cry. We got the green light to introduce meats and egg yolk. So far, Jack likes mashed potatoes and turkey with gravy.
7/14/04
Unbelievably enough, on the fourth of July, Jack said his true first words, "Da da." And now he says it all the time, and when he says it to Eric he gets very excited. In fact, whenever I wipe his nose or do something that's unpleasant to him, he calls and screams for "Da da" to save him. It's pretty funny. He's also getting very close to standing, he pushes himself up on everything and has started climbing on top of things. He's also taking steps while pushing toys around. Jack also got his first ear infection, we thought we could escape the dreaded ear infection, but not us. Jack is textbook, he pulled on his ear and refused the bottle...we thought, our boy, not eating? there's something wrong. He's doing much better now and back on the bottle. Jack is also very close to having a mouth full of teeth. He currently has 2 top teeth showing and 3 bottom teeth in.
7/24/04
Jack is standing and taking a few steps while holding onto us and/or furniture. It looks as though one day we may find him just standing in the crib. He loves his new walkers, courtesy of Aunt Marina and Uncle Matt, he pulls himself up and moves his feet then very gently sits back down. Jack is also opening drawers..ugh...something to deal with. And he is also very into circles, balls and anything round. He spins everything that has that shape. He also loves listening to the phone, well the person on the other end that is. Jack also has a new trick at daycare. He pulls out every baby's under the crib bin and opens them all, he also climbs on top of them. And I think we are back to sleeping through the night, Jack started sleeping through around June 8th, then when we went on vacation on June 19th, and he stopped. Granted he had 3 teeth coming in, but regardless, last night was the first night he slept through since then. And by sleeping through the night, I mean 7:30pm to 7:00am.
8/8/04 (10 Months)
Well that one day came very quickly. One day we found Jack standing in the crib, then the pack n play, then at the safety gate and now just about everywhere else. He can pull himself up on anything, including the wall. He's still taking small steps while holding onto furniture, but getting very brave. He's also climbing on top of everything, especially toys. We also have another new tooth, Jack now has 6 teeth, and drooling like a mad man. So, we think, more teeth on the way. Jack has also moved onto the step 3 foods. He loves them chunky. Jack is remembering more and more everyday, especially games we play. Jack is just so much fun to play with and hang out with.
9/2/04 (11 Months)
Jack is truly a gem! He cracks us up everyday. He is talking up a storm, his favorite word these days is "go" he tell everyone to "go," "da da go" "doggie go" "ma ma go" it's a riot. Jack is still drooling, so those additional teeth better come soon. Jack is also eating much more table food, it's so much fun seeing his reaction to food. He loves macaroni and cheese. Jack can clap his hands, he tries to put his baseball cap on his head and puts everything he can in tupperware containers. He's very close to walking, he's walking holding onto furniture and has started to let go a little. We are in no rush for him to walk. Jack also enjoys spinning his toys on tables and watch them go, it's truly amazing. He is fascinated with the phone, he loves to listen to the person on the other end talk and wants to push all the buttons. Jack is also learning to feed himself, it was fun watching his reaction when something actually went in his mouth. Jack has chosen his bedtime pal, and apparently his best friend, it's blue bear/dog/bunny, we're not sure, but he loves it. When he's tired or crying, he crawls to his crib, stands up and pulls the blueguy out and hugs him, it's so cute. We're very excited for his 1st Birthday and can't believe its been a year. It's nice to just go on this website and see how he's changed and grown this past year. Since the last time I wrote, Jack has a new cousin, Brenden Reese, who was born on August 10, 2004.
10/02/04 (1 Year!)
What can I say that won't make me cry. Not much. Jack has grown to be an adorable little boy with a fun and outgoing personality. Jack is walking with the kid "walkers." He's not walking solo just yet, but we can wait! He's saying so many words, it's insane! He's saying "ko ko" (our dog's name) "duck" "book" and his name, "jack." It's just too cute. Jack got another tooth, he has a total of 7 right now. Jack got his first pair of shoes, well, sneakers. They measured his feet (4 ½ wide) and as soon as they put the shoes on, he jumped up and down. We thought that was a good sign. For his first birthday, we took Jack to Peddler's Village for the day and Giggleberry Fair with friends. He had a great time, especially riding the Carousel. We also took him out to lunch! He had a grilled cheese sandwich and homefries! We also had a family birthday party for him, he was a sport and instead of a nap, he opened gifts. Lots of fun new toys. We also started weaning off formula and on to milk...we'll see how that goes. And we started using the sippy cup more, but Jack is not into juice only water. Which is fine with us. Can't believe he's a year old. He has his 1 year appt. coming up.
11/02/04
Jack had his 1 year appt and weighed in at 22 pounds and 29 inches tall. He's just doing great! He's pretty much eating table food. He's drinking pure milk! And loves it. He's drinking some juices, but mostly milk. He's eating crackers, cheerios and mac n cheese, his favorite. He's down to 1 nap a day, and has moved up to the next class, Y2 in school. He has quite a fan club at school, when I drop him off, his buddies come up and say "JACK!" and Jack looks at them and says "JACK!" reiterating to them that , yes he is here and ready to play. Jack also has an admirer, a little girl in his class gives him hugs and kisses. He says quite a few words now, among them are "Mommee" "Daddee" "done" "more milk" "banan" "no more". Jack is getting very close to walking, he's learning how to balance now and has let go quite a few times. Anyday now... he will walk with us while holding our hands.
11/28/04
Once again, what can I say that won't make me cry. Not much. Today, Jack took his first steps. It was amazing and I was so happy that one of us was there to share it. Other parents reading this with children in daycare can understand how heartbreaking some milestones are when they are told to you and not seen by you. I'm just so happy it happened in front of us. Jack walked to a bottle of milk that my mom was holding. He didn't even hesitate, proves my point that he could walk all along, just a little lazy. We are doing laps around that house now, he's still holding onto a finger, but will probably let go more and more now. He's waiving and saying "bye." He says "hi" over the phone...and he says "hot" and "cold" and tests his food before eating. I hope I didn't make him to crazy over "hot" cuz now he's even testing the bananas. Oh well. He also loves to annoy our dogs, although he thinks he's playing and being nice, he's petting the dogs and putting his head on them (hugging them), they are none too pleased with all this new attention, of course they are 10 years young, and just want some cookies and whatever falls from the highchair. Our next goal is to get video of him walking, this will definitely be an interesting holiday season.
12/29/04 (almost 15 months)
What an amazing year we have had. Jack has learned and experienced so so much. In the past month Jack has started walking, and is in the process of perfecting it. He says several words, to mention a few, "hello" "burt" "ernie" "elmo" "big berd" "cookie" "cracker" "bib" "chicken" "cheese" "milk" "more milk" "juice" "doggie" "casey" "koko" "gigi" "nana" "mommy" "daddy" "tree" "ball" "cup" "book" "bath" "night night" "paci." It's pretty cool. He also understands pretty much everything we tell him and or ask him to do. He learned the circle shape, he understands that only round objects fit in a round hole. He can now stack rings on a pole. He's "playing" with his toys and pretending everything is a phone. He'll pick up a toy that is shaped like a phone and put it to his ear and say "hello, nana?" It's so funny, nana is my mom. We have gates everywhere, the dogs are constantly trapped in one room or another, and Casey shows her displeasure by chewing on Jack's toys. Jack is climbing onto and off of chairs. He blows kisses to everyone when we leave. When he wakes up in the middle of night (which isn't often) instead of just crying, he now screams "mommy" at the top of his lungs in between cries. When he wakes up in the morning, he calls us from his crib, "mommy" "daddy." He calls his belly "baby" and will point to his belly and pull up his shirt and everyone else's shirts to show off their bellies. He can point to his nose, eyes and ears when asked to point at them. He knows his name thoroughly, and when asked "who's jack?" he points to himself and says "me." He hugs us, the dogs, his bears and his favorite blue guy. Jack is such a sweet wonderful little boy that we have been so blessed with. Jack has touched our hearts and changed our lives in a way that I could never express in words, but every mom & dad reading this understands. And if you have older kids, just remember when they were this age, he melts my heart everyday. One of the sweet things he does, is at the end of our bedtime routine, Jack gives us a big hug before going to bed, and then we say we love you, and night night, and he says "night night" and collapses on his pillow.
3/07/05
I can't believe it's been so long since I've written. Jack has a pretty big vocabulary, the newest word being "thank you" and he knows when to say it, he's also starting to say "I love you", though it sounds like "love ya". When Eric and I drop him off at school, he says "bye bye mommy" "bye bye daddy." In the morning, he opens the pantry and pulls out his cereal, and says "mommy, CRACKER, milk!" What can I say, he knows what he wants. Jack still gives us hugs and everyone else, he's a hugger, what can I say, but now he grabs our faces and kisses us, big wet ones! So funny. He loves the car and asks to go in the car. As of recent, he likes chocolate and tried ice cream. His favorite foods are homemade mac & cheese, pizza and chicken. As of 2 days ago, Jack has a total of 13 teeth, including all his 1st year molars. He can eat big chunks of an apple very quickly. Jack loves fruit, pretty much all fruit. Jack's memory is developing quite quickly. He knows the names of several animals. Jack also loves his books, he picks the books we read before bed, and when Eric or I read to him, he knows what's going to happen on the next page. He's running around the house and climbing on everything, tables, chairs, couches, stairs, toys... you name it, he climbs it. He is starting to sing and dance. Jack still enjoys watching a few minutes of Elmo on TV, but he's still not much of TV viewer. We took away the bottle during the day, it took 5 weeks before Jack would drink milk during the day, but it happened. One day he drank milk out of the sippy cup and there it was. Now he drinks mostly milk during the day with juice at snack time. He still has a bottle of milk before bed, which we have started wean him off. We'd like to see him just have some water in a cup before bed, sometime around age 2. Some negatives, he doesn't like his diaper changed anymore, he touches everything we tell him not to touch and standing on chairs, books, toys. Jack gets along great with the dogs, better than we thought, but on that note we still hold our breath. Koko and Casey are old girls, and we think that they are showing quite a fondness for Jack, especially during meals. Jack has started to throw food, and now has started to cover up the food throwing after we say no, by showing us that he wasn't throwing, but in fact giving it to the dogs.

Jack is just the most amazing little guy. All of his teeth are officially coming now and he's taking it like a little man. He's talking to us, and we actually understand what he's saying. He's starting to use 2 and 3 word phrases...his favorite being "where daddy go?" he's always asking where his daddy is. He points out "doggies" and "cars" wherever we go. He also flirts with every waitress when we go out. His catch phrase being "hi..baby" also "cool baby." He is starting to rebel a little when we tell him no, constantly testing us, but he knows it's wrong. He's doing great at climbing the stairs, unfortunately he's climbing on everything else, tables, chests, chairs and using other things like pillows and boxes as stepping points. Jack loves his books, he picks the books we read before bed...we have a great bedtime routine. We've added a "love you" which he now says before bed. Just so unbelievable.
5-02-05
Well, this month, his teeth were the highlight, all teeth just coming in full fury. Poor guy. Jack is just talking and talking and talking. Last month he was saying "where daddy go?" now, he's using the possessive for everything! "where did my daddy go?" "where did my koko go?" He always says "thank you mommy" when I give him dinner every night, it's really sweet. We talk on the way home from school. I ask him where mommy and daddy go while Jack is at school, and he answers "work!."
6-2-05
Once again, Jack simply amazes us. He now knows so many words, we've lost count. He tell us where he wants to go, what he wants to do and who he wants to see. He's always asking us where everyone went? Especially, HIS Nana, HIS Gigi, HIS Poppi... and so on. He uses the possessive tense for all of HIS things, and some of our things. He knows, "mommy's car" "daddy's car" "mommy's bag" "daddy's wawwet" "daddy's mammer" "daddy's attic" and our favorite "gigi linis" (tortelini's a la Gigi). Jack recently had a double ear infection, ouch, our poor guy, he was a trooper. He asked me for some "medisin," we couldn't believe it. Jack is very polite, says his "pease and tankyous" and covers his mouth when he coughs. Jack is also finishing the last word of sentences in his books and nursery rhymes. All that reading we've done since he was born is paying off. He knows most of them by heart. He loves the outdoors and is constantly asking to go OUTSIDE! OUTSIDE! and looks for doggies and birds and rides in his wagon. He also like his lawnmower, just like Daddy's "momer." Enjoying the summer season and flirting with the girls next door...Jack is having fun!
8-10-05
Well, I can't believe it's been 2 months since I've written in this journal, because so much has happened. Jack is using 4 and 5 word sentences. He knows so many words and is now repeating a new word once and it's part of his vocabulary. It's really quite remarkable. He loves the pool we have in the backyard, he doesn't want to get out when he's in it. It took him 4 weeks in the pool to try and swim, now he can float on his belly and kick his feet with arm floats. He remembers everything and almost everybody. He's saying "good morning" in the morning and "good night" at night. He still loves his Wiggles, and that's really the only thing he likes to watch on t.v. other than dogs. He loves the zoo and especially the elephants (see pics). He starting to count, and does pretty good 1 - 10 (skipping 4 and inserting 9 at random times). He's climbing the steps holding onto the railing and starting say "Yes" instead of Jack talk for "yes" which is "rah". He kisses the dogs night night. He loves going to the Duck Pont in Yardley and feeding the very friendly ducks. He's discovered the world of flashlights. He enjoys his new table and chairs in his playroom. He loves watching cartoons on Sat mornings in our room. He's just a joy to have...
9-02-05
Jack is getting ready to move up to the next class at school! He'll be moving to the OT (Older Toddler) room at the end of this month. We'll be calling it the "OC" just for fun. It's a big move for him, it's really the class where everything happens... drinking from a cup, no more buggy rides, all playground time, potty training, eating lunch at the table, sitting in a chair, listening to directions...some big changes are in store for Jack. It's all very exciting. We still can't believe he'll turn 2 in one month! Unbelievable how quickly time flies. Jack is talking better and better, he's saying almost full sentences and not thinking so much about what words to use. He's very proud of himself when he does something on his own. He definitely wants to be independent already. He likes to feed himself with a big fork and spoon, and now has his food favorites. He loves visiting family, and is sad when friends and family leave.
9-20-05
Jack has been spending time in the OT room, getting ready for the big move. He really enjoys it there and loves all the new stuff he's learning. Only 2 weeks till Jack's 2nd birthday. About a week and a half ago, we took the pacifier away for good. That was a big step. When Jack was about 18 months, we took the pacifier away during the day and let him have it for bedtime and naps. Then we realized that he named the pacifier "bobby." So, about a week and a half ago we found out that in the next class there are no pacifiers and that it was time to do it, so we hyped it up for about a week to him, now that he can communicate with us, we thought it was best to prepare him. So we told him that "bobby" was going away, and that he didn't need "bobby" anymore, and that babies need "bobby." So finally one night we did it and just took it away. It took 3-4 nights of crying for about 30 minutes then to 5 minutes.. to now, he doesn't even ask for it. It's really quite amazing how easy it was. Jack is talking in short sentences. Absolutely loves the carousel, and the "puppy store." He loves to go feed the ducks and the zoo. His recent favorites are school buses, monkeys and soccer balls. Jack can count to 10. He's becoming more and more independent, and is now going up and down the stairs with very little assistance, more like we are spotting him so that he doesn't fall. But he's constantly saying "no mommy, just jack." It's hard letting him do things on his own, but I just know that he has to do it. He still loves the Wiggles...it's really the only show he wants to watch, other than Breakfast with Bear and Daniel Cook on Disney (which are like 5 minutes long). We're looking forward to more exciting things from Jack...
10-09-05
I was going to write about Jack's 2nd Birthday last week, but couldn't gather my thoughts. Now, after settling into the fact that Jack has turned 2, I can write. Jack has gone through a metamorphus, my wonderful, sweet little guy has a naughty side. Yes, I know he's not perfect, but honestly, until 2 weeks ago, he was pretty close. Jack has graduated to the "OT" room at school. And is still adjusting to the different routine and schedule in the class. He has 15 classmates and 3 teachers, and structured play and learning all day. Jack has been used to free play. Now he has a whole new room, teachers, friends and schedule to get used to. And we should have known that this would in turn effect our routine as well. Jack has started to not want to go to school, not want us to go to work, and not want to get dressed, undressed, take a bath, go to sleep and everything else. This lasted for about 2 weeks, Jack has now just started to settle back into his old routine. Since he's completely talking and communicating with us, it's harder and harder to explain why we have to work and why we can't spend all day everyday with him. On a happy note, 2 weeks in this new class, and Jack can count to 15, knows all his colors and shapes. We have also had potty success for 2 Sundays now. Last Sunday after bath, Jack peed on the potty and again this Sunday. Nothing in between. He's a Sunday kind of guy. He tells us that he doesn't want to wear diapers anymore and wants a big boy bed. He's just growing up too fast and I don't know how to stop it. Jack has become a little rebellious as well, he's taking the word "no" to a whole new level when asked to NOT to do something. Needless to say, the past two weeks have included a world of timeouts. We know it's just a phase, they don't call them the terrible 2's for nothing, but we just can't believe it has happened to us. But again, on a happy note, Jack had a great 2nd birthday, with his grandparents on hand to spoil him! He got some great gift and toys and had loads of fun ripping open gifts. Jack still loves pizza, and has announced Macaroni & Cheese as his second favorite food. Jack does enjoy a good grilled cheese as well. We think this year is going to be even more unpredictable than the first, which we never thought could happen. Cheers to our little man, here's to hoping we survive.
10/26/05
Jack's vocabulary has greatly increased within the past 2 weeks! He's putting 6 and 7 word sentences together. He's saying "Daddy, Watch this" and then he'll do something cute! Jack now knows how to kick a ball and he's trying to catch. He loves soccer balls! Jack is also beginning to understand reward for good behavior, and in that respect, has gotten a little better. It's definitely a learn as you go phase. I don't think we ever realized how much he really pays attention. He knows everything that's happening around him, from us taking our cars in for service to rain outside to what color the sky is. Jack is even starting to imagine things.. which is pretty cool. The other night, he woke up in the middle of the night calling for us and when I went in there he told me that his ear hurt, makes sense, he had an ear infection, and the there was a low grumble (his belly or mine) and Jack said "Mommy, there's a tiger in my room" it was just so cute, and he believed it. I had to reassure him that Tigers are only at the zoo.
11/15/05
Jack is officially in a big boy bed. We got him his new bed on Oct. 30, and he never looked back. He loves his new bed. Jack likes to get a book and then read it in bed. Since daylight savings time, Jack is also a big fan of the moon, now he gets to see it every night and calls it "my moon." Jack is learning a lot in school, he can count to 15 and count to 10 in Spanish. The coolest first for him though has been jumping. Jack jumped for the first time about a week ago and hasn't stopped. Sometimes he jumps around saying "ribbit" "ribbit." He sings and dances. Jack also loves to color. His favorite color is still yellow. He learned to drink from a juice box without squeezing it and having the juice go everywhere! Jack can also eat soup with a spoon by himself without us putting a load of paper towels on his lap. Jack also loves to play with Eric's tools in the garage. He absolutely loves "daddy's tools" and asks to play with them everyday. After he plays with them, he actually puts them back to.
2-02-06
Wow, I can't believe how long its been since I've written about Jack. I guess we were just having way too much fun with him. This is the best age! Jack is talking in complete sentences and is just too much. He has started watching movies, his favorite being Toy Story. We've watched that a few times. He loves Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Jack is drinking out of a cup and eating dinner w/us from a regular plate. He's started to pretend play, which is lots of fun. He makes food out of playdoh and pretends to eat it. Playdoh has been his recent favorite toy next his train set. Jack still loves the carousel, so we do try and go and keep it as it treat. He has also taken quite an interest in Ice Cream. Jack's favorite tv show is Daniel Cook on Disney. He has lots of new phrases he uses quite often now, some of them are "Wait a minute" "No way Jose" "I do this by myself" "Casey, this is my dinner, that is your dinner over there" "Daddy, let's feed the fish" and lots more. Jack can count to about 20, and knows his ABCs, he sings the ABC song all the time. Jack has always loved the piano, we are fortunate that Jack's grandparents have one and great-grandparents have one, so he loves to sit and play with his Poppi and his (Great) Grandpa Sam. Lots of new stuff coming up for Jack, a 3rd Birthday Party in D.C. for his cousin Kent and a Wedding Cruise to St. Thomas/St. Marten w/family. It's really hard to remember when Jack didn't talk or walk...we really feel like the past 2 years went by in a blink.
4-15-06
Jack's Uncle Ryan recently got married in St. Thomas, USVI. Jack went with us on our adventure to Ryan & Jaime's wedding. We flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico to take a cruise ship to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Jack did great on the 4 hour flight, the dvd player came in very handy though. Jack is now speaking very clearly and in sentences without skipping a beat. We almost forget how old he is, and in fact he sometimes responds to that question with "I'm 6 years old." It's funny since he knows he's 2. He sings a few songs now, some include "Take me out to the ball game" "Old MacDonald" and "God Bless America." He can recite the pledge of allegiance. He enjoys a walk in the 5 mile Woods near our house, he points out all the bugs, worms, salamanders and "woodpeppers" in the trees. Jack's recent favorite toy (since New Years') has been Thomas the Train, he knows almost every train by picture and just loves playing with them. His favorite cartoons, other than Thomas the Train are Little Einsteins and Blues Clues. He loves to read books. His favorites being, Thomas books, Big Red Barn, Goodnight Moon, Curious George and the Rocket. If we read the book once to him, he can pretty much read to us by memory the second time. It's pretty amazing. Now that the weather is becoming warmer, Jack loves his play house in our backyard; He plays fetch with Casey and loves to run in our garden and point out all the yellow flowers. We are looking forward to our time w/the Bowshers for our annual June vacation at the beach.

Jack Quotes:
5/13: "Maybe, when I put a helmet on my head, I can play with them [scooters]"
5/14: "Mommy, after you're done sleeping, you can come upstairs and play with
us."

Jack saw his first rainbow today!
7-9-06
Wow, it's been so long since I've written in the journal! Jack continues to amaze us. He's singing songs that he's memorized, from children's songs (i.e. this old man... and B-I-N-G-O) to the Laurie Berkner cd in my car. He's completely talking like a little guy, full sentences and usually surprises us with what he says. Eric build Jack a barn in our backyard, to house his car and toys, Jack just loves it and now wants another one. He's enjoying the pool and just loving summer. He had a great time at our annual beach vacation with the Bowshers. He just adores his cousins, Kent & Zaida. Jack had a great time at the beach, loved the ocean and tried to surf on his frisbee, maybe a boogie board next year. Jack also went on his first rides at Funland in Rehoboth Beach, he rode the Fire Engines, Boats, Helicopter and his favorite, the Carousel. He's fearless! We've been expanding his book collection and have now gotten into the paperback books, can't believe he's moving on from board books. His recent favorites are Curious George Goes to the Beach and Clifford at the Firehouse. He still is very into Thomas the Tank Engine, and has the Take Along Thomas set. He also has been enjoying ice cream, especially in cones! That's been a summer favorite. His recent favorite flavors have been Mint Chocolate Chip, Peach and Vanilla. Jack enjoys playing by himself, and pretending to be in space! We again are just amazed at the imagination he has. Toy wise he's been very into puzzles...we up to the 24 piece puzzles and are moving up quick! He's also been pretty good at putting his shoes and socks on, and getting close putting his clothes on. He does like to pick his own t's and shorts in the morning. Potty training in progress....
9-13-06
Well, can't believe I'm saying this, but Jack is going to pre-school. He's doing well with Potty training, set back here and there, but all in all he's officially in pre-school. Jack will be 3 next month and we are planning his birthday party, he's very set on having a Thomas the Train cake. We're working on that. Jack has also really taken to the beach, we just got back from our September beach getaway, and he just loves the Beach House and the beach. He had so much fun on the beach building sand castles and playing ball, digging a hole, relaxing in the beach chair, running in the water etc... and he remembered funland and had so much fun on all the rides on the boardwalk and having ice cream. It was really hard to leave this time. Since we've been home, he keeps asking to go back to the beach house. He also enjoy painting...very much. Painting, coloring, drawling....he's also starting to draw shapes and try to write numbers. This is all completely insane to us. Jack is also very interesting in construction vehicles and construction sites, he knows every kind of machine out there and points them out to us on the road. Another impressive detail is he's aware that his Poppi & Gigi live in Delaware, and that his Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime live in Florida, and that Mommy and Daddy work in New Jersey and of course that Jack lives in Pennsylvania, another insane detail for us. Jack is also starting to spell words and sound them out, very early stages of reading. Very impressive, he can spell, p-i-g, d-o-g, c-a-t, j-a-c-k. Jack's also started talking about Halloween and pumpkins, so far he wants to be Goofy for Halloween. His favorite tv show these days is Mickey Mouse Club house...
11-15-06
Jack had a fantastic Halloween, he was Bob the Builder, and really got into Trick or Treating...He liked dressing up and of course getting candy. His favorite candy being "Yemin-M's" It seems like just a month or so ago that Jack started pre-school, wait, it was about a month or so ago...Now Jack is saying he wants to be in the pre-k class. Now that he's potty trained, he just can't wait to get older. Jack is getting better and better at spelling and his vocabulary is just phenomenal...he says phrases like "I told you so" "Daddy let's me do it" "When I'm bigger, I'm going to ride my bike to school.. Mommy, will you buy me a bike?" He also knows the street we live on and our address. We also find ourselves saying phrases we never thought we would be saying... like "Don't put your head in the toilet" "Take your underwear off your head" "Don't use the metal pan to hit the beach ball." Since becoming a member of the Phila Zoo, Jack knows the route backwards and forwards, his recent favorite animal being the ALLIGATORS.
5-5-07
Well, I just can't believe how long it's been since I've written a passage in Jack's journal. Jack is 3 and 1/2 years old and just a gem. We recently had an addition to our family, a little sister for Jack, Sydney Lola. He absolutely adores her and wants to hold her and kiss her and stroke her head. He can't wait to play with her. Jack just excels in pre-school. He loves reading time, especially Dr. Seuss books, as you may guess, we have a lot of Dr. Seuss books. Jack has most of them memorized and of course has his favorites. He can't wait to read. Jack is also doing really well with math, he's consistently doing addition and subtraction, which is really cool. He's also learning about our environment, geography and science. He just loves to learn. Jack is a joy and so much fun to hang out with and play with. We now have our foursome, and look forward to watching our kids grow.
6-26-07
Jack is adjusting quite well to his new little sister. He also started camp this week, and is very excited about it. He also wants to go "camping like daddy" so we're going to try and do a camp out in the backyard, maybe this weekend. He also got his very first bike over the weekend and has started riding it. A real bike w/training wheels...he was so happy, it was just amazing to see. Jack's vocabulary has become truly unbelievable, he uses words like "compilation" and "mistaken" and so many more. He's starting to do math in his head, and has taken quite a liking to dinosaurs. He loves to read about them and has actually memorized some of his books. We had a visit from Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime, who brought Jack a very cool Dinosaur stencil book, and now Jack stencils and colors dinosaurs, and knows all of their names and who's a meat eater and who's not. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next. Jack has his first school field trip coming up, and a trip w/Nana to Center City...so he'll have a fun filled summer. He also just can't wait to get to the beach, this year our vacation isn't until August.
8-14-07
Jack has had a very exciting summer. Camp at school has been so fun w/all the field trips he's gotten to go on. Jack's Nana and Deda have taken him on a few field trips as well...he's enjoyed taking the train into Center City and has gone to the Please Touch Museum and to Ride the Ducks tour. He's gotten to see a snake show and a play of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Bucks County Playhouse. He did a build a bear work shop and is going bowling soon. He's also very excited for our Beach vacation w/the Bowshers. He's excited to share a room w/Kent and walk the boards and go on rides! We can't wait either. Jack is adjusting quite well to having a little sister. And come this fall will be starting Pre-K, can't believe how time flies. He still loves dinosaurs and reading and enjoys playing w/trains. We hope to take him to his first movie at the theater soon and we are starting to plan his 4th birthday party!
10-25-07
Well, our little guy turned 4 this month! And we just can't believe it! 34 lbs and 38 and 1/2 inches tall. So much has happened since I last wrote, that I'll just sum it up. Jack had a great summer and a fab vacation at Rehoboth Beach where we rent a beach house every year w/my cousin and her family. Jack loved the beach and the ocean and jumping in the waves. He also got to share a room w/his cousin Kent. Jack also enjoyed playing with his cousin Zaida and going to Funland everyday! Check out our beach pictures. September was also filled w/great anticipation for Jack's 4th birthday party. Which we had a Snipes Farm w/his pre-school class! What a great time! Jack had lots of fun seeing all his friends at his party and outside of school. Sydney also made a cameo. Jack is doing great in school and getting better and better at writing! That's just unbelievable. He's also starting to read. Jack also enjoys playing w/his little sister, he makes funny faces and makes her smile and laugh...We have a lot to look forward to this year, Thanksgiving and Christmas w/the family and then Florida in December. Jack has also been sharpening his negotiation skills...here's an example:
-10/21/07, After dinner, about 6:40 pm.
Jack: "can I have a lollypop for dessert?"
Eric: "i'm sorry, jack, it's too late for sugar. It's almost 7:00. How about
a plum?"
"no thanks."
"some almonds?"
"no"
"how about a piece of [Pemmican] beef jerky?"
*pause*
Jack: "two pieces"
"how about 1 big piece?"
"can I have 2 big pieces?"
"one big piece, that's my offer."
*pause*
Jack: "can I pick the piece?"
"one big piece, I [daddy] pick the piece. that's my offer."
"no. how about 2 pieces?"
"one piece."
*pause*
Jack: "ok, one really big piece, daddy."
and so it goes.
4-7-08
Well, so much has been going on and Jack is just becoming such an independent little boy. He has started swim lessons, which he loves. He started to read and write, his printing is pretty good! He loves to paint, and draw and says he wants to be an artist. Jack loves to play with his friends and with his little sister, who adores him. Jack's negotiating skills have gotten much sharper and keep us on our toes. He loves books, which is just fantastic. He's remembering more and more of the past years, and is looking forward to our beach trip. He also remembers our Florida trip and wants Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaime to come visit soon. He loves Star Wars and has watched the first one (IV) all the way through, his favorite is Obi One...which is just a riot. Jack is such a big help around the house, and enjoys helping us in the kitchen. He also has become quite good on the laptop and has his favorite kids internet sites that he goes on. We just can't wait to see what happens next.
4-24-08
Jack is just growing too fast! Too soon too soon! He's started taking swim lessons and is doing great and having a ball, he has asked if he could go everyday. He's also so into Star Wars, we did not see this coming. But he watched New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, the first 2 movies he's ever seen start to finish. Seriously, he hasn't even seen the CARS movie start to finish. But he has a favorite character and I can tell is going to be great at Star Wars trivia! He's doing really well with reading and writing, I can't believe how well he writes. We also catch him trying to teach Sydney how to do things and teach her words. He reads the baby books to her, which is just amazing. His interest in her has far exceeded our expectations that they get along and that there's no jealousy. Well, we're beyond that, Jack & Sydney has this bond now, that is just too precious. When Jack cries, Sydney cries. And she doesn't do that for anyone, usually is any other baby/child cries, she laughs. They hug each other and play so well together! Jack just can't wait till she can play his toys with her. And of course, Jack is so looking forward to our beach week with the Bowshers! We've already started talking about what we are bringing!
